February 2020 saw the launch of our Betty’s 5p Pots Appeal.
Betty’s 5p Pots Appeal allows the public to help the RNLI save lives at sea by raising money through saving 5p coins or any other money in small jam jars.
.
The first event of 2020 took place on the 7th January and it was an invite from
‘The Friends of Beaumont Park Social History Group’
Maurice & Andrew attended to talk about the work of the R.N.L.I which Maurice presented to a very interested group of people. Andrew gave a presentation on the connections that Huddersfield have had in the past about LIFEBOATS with an affinity to Honley & Brockholes Branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

SEPT 2020
A MESSAGE FROM OUR VICE CHAIRMAN ANDREW
WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN ME IN SUPPORTING A GOOD CAUSE?
I’M RAISING MONEY FOR THE RNLI AND YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL MAKE AN IMPACT, WHETHER YOU DONATE £1, £5 OR £500. EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. IT’S BEEN AN INCREDIBLY CHALLENGING YEAR FOR THE RNLI WITH MOST FUNDRAISING EVENTS BEING CANCELLED AND OUR SEVICES BEING REQUESTED A RECORD NUMBER OF TIMES IN OUR NEARLY 200 YEAR HISTORY.
THIS YEAR, THERE IS AN EXTRA SPECIAL EVENT HAPPENING FOR RNLI VOLUNTEERS, STAFF AND FAMILY MEMBERS. I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO JOIN VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF FROM ACROSS THE UK AND IRELAND TO JOIN THE FISH SUPPER ONLINE LAUNCH EVENT (WHICH WILL BE VIDEOED) AS WE ATTEMPT TO SET A NEW ‘GUINNESS WORLD RECORD’FOR THE LARGEST ONLINE FISH SUPPER. MUSHY PEAS ARE OPTIONAL.
UPDATE. WE ARE SO EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT OUR WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT WAS SUCCESSFUL, AND OUR ONE CREW IS NOW THE PROUD RECORD HOLDER FOR: ‘MOST PEOPLE EATING A FISH AND CHIP DINNER SIMULTANEOUSLY ONLINE’.
WE HAVE RECEIVED THE CERTIFICATE FROM GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS,
We held the record for just over a year ( 29 September 2021) before it was beaten by Leah Shutkever a multiple Guinness World Records title holder in the field of competitive eating. Using her social media following, she was able to organise this online event and give her followers the opportunity to achieve a Guinness World Records title with her.
